The most widely recognized and commonly used category of massage is the Swedish massage. The Swedish massage techniques vary from light too vigorous. Swedish massage uses five styles of strokes. The five basic strokes are effleurage (sliding or gliding), petrissage(kneading), tapotement (rhythmic tapping), friction (cross fiber or with the fibers) and vibration/shaking. Swedish massage has shown to be helpful in reducing pain, joint stiffness, and improving function in patients with osteoarthritis of the knee

Medical Social WorkOften times people ask us what the difference is between an Occupational Therapist and a Physical Therapist. In simple terms, a physical therapist’s job is to help patients increase mobility and function to ultimately live pain free. An occupational therapist is focused on helping people live as independently as possible.
Occupational TherapyLiving with pain is not fun, but some people believe it’s just a way of life. You may think the pain will eventually go away, you might be scared you’ll need surgery, or it may be one of those nagging things that you just haven’t taken care of yet. Physical therapy is a safe alternative to surgery and medication, and the right treatment plan can provide relief from arthritis to back pain to helping recover from an injury.
Physical TherapyPeople with chronic lung disease often benefit from participation in a specialized outpatient exercise and an educational program known as Pulmonary Rehabilitation. The Pulmonary Rehabilitation program provides a thorough intervention in patients with impaired lung function. The goal is to improve patients’ overall function, increase their ability to perform regular daily activities and improve a person’s quality of life. Our pulmonary rehab program is staffed by specially-trained medical professionals to accommodate you in managing and living with your lung conditions.
